Review: The Book Ninja by Ali Berg and Michelle Kalus

Title: The Book Ninja

Author: Ali Berg and Michelle Kalus

Genre: Chick lit/contemporary

In short: A fun story, for book lovers, written by book lovers.

No spoilers

When I first heard that the girls from @booksontherail were writing a book, I knew I simply had to add it to my TBR. I mean, a book set in Melbourne, about a chick that loves books? The book was already basically about me! But as any bookworm knows, TBR’s have a habit of growing bigger and bigger and bigger and months later I’d pretty much forgotten about the book entirely.

Well, until I saw it beckoning me from the shelves at K-Mart. Using my best book ninja skills I grabbed that book and discreetly added it the pile of other things I happened to be buying from K-Mart that day. I read it not long after and I loved every moment of it. After every chapter I asked myself how on earth I had let this book slip between my fingers in the first place.

Told in third person as well as through texts, blog posts and emails, The Book Ninja is basically about this book nerd who goes around placing books on public transport in order to try and find a man.

I loved every moment in this book. The characters were vibrant and entertaining. The writing was fast-paced. The situations the main character, Frankie gets herself into were all quite hilarious and the romantic scenes were uber adorable.

Being set where I live made this book quite special. However, all the literary references were what really made this book for me. #canrelate.

I won’t give away too much more for fear of spoiling the book, but if you love fun-filled romance and if you love books then you need to read this!

I’m rating it 5/5 stars.
