Review: Crown of Midnight

Title: Crown of Midnight

Author: Sarah J.Maas

Genre: Young Adult/Fantasy

Sarah J. Maas’ writing is a little bit like wine. It gets better with age. She is queen of the sequel. If you’ve been following this blog then you know a couple months ago I read Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses and was disappointed-and then read its sequel and boy, oh boy it was that one pretty much perfect.

Upon reading Crown of Midnight I found that it is the same deal with the Throne of Glass series.

Crown of Midnight succeeds where Throne of Glass largely failed.

With some great character developments, a few plot twists and the tying up of loose ends from the previous novel, Crown of Midnight takes this series to a whole new level.

It is bloodier and it is darker. There is more magic, more mystery and more romance. In this book Cealana steps into her assassins shoes and rocks them. However, she’s no perfect assassin. Maas has created a character who is flawed-who is human. A character which people will be able to relate to, and I think that is why so many readers have fallen in love with this series.

Whilst the book was a little slow at times-the ending gives a whole new meaning to the words climax and cliffhanger.

If you, like me, were a little hesitant about continuing on with this series-I highly recommend you read Crown of Midnight.

I never thought I’d say this-but I can’t wait to continue on with this series.

I’m rating this book 3.5/5.
